I moved to South Florida to work under a renowned copywriter, and it turned into an education you can't get in a classroom. I was designing logos and graphics for financial publishers and small businesses, but I was also learning how the words and the design have to pull in the same direction. I came out of it doing both, a designer who can write and a writer who can design.

Eventually North Carolina pulled me back. I wanted to build things for people I'd actually meet, businesses down the road instead of names on an invoice. Through Apex that's exactly what I get to do, bringing everything I learned in Florida to the companies right here.

I got my start running IT for a local agriculture company, keeping the systems that kept the place moving. It's where I learned to actually solve problems instead of just describing them. Once I had the fundamentals down cold, I kept pushing, into design, into development, into everything that touches how a business shows up online.
